Excalibur

The empty barren land stretched for miles, stained by the blotches of fallen kingdoms, covered with the dust of entropy. I walked with heavy armor, my throat parched, my eyes straining to see what was ahead. I was told by many that I would find what I searched for, but I had underestimated the journey. Peering through the windy horizon, the dust blowing into my eyes, I noticed a rock jutting out of the ground ahead. Filled with determination, I pushed harder through the rough terrain, the elements persevering to hold me back from my destiny. I stumbled on, refusing to…

Cupcake Christianity

First of all, what you are about to read is extremely opinionated and is not fact. I'm writing what I feel. It's not really up for debate, but you can comment whether you disagree or not. If we compare today's Christianity with the time it began, we cannot ignore the vast difference in theology and way of lifestyle. It is unavoidable. Our theology is not only watered down, but so is our faith. We don't believe as much as the apostles, neither do we act as much them. I feel we don't hold onto the truth with a tight grip and…

Babylon Rising

Now I know that the Bible says that Babylon is fallen in Revelations 18. Revelation 18:1-3 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. With a mighty voice he shouted: “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants…

Pastors & Wolves

Ever since I could remember, pastors have been held in high prestige. Nobody really knows why. Do they? We all assume that since he is dressed in a dignified and religious way, respect is due to him. A pastor is defined by what church he belongs to or what clothes he wears. However, we live in a time where if a pastor drives a Mercedes, wears expensive suits, lives in a mansion and travels all over the world, such a pastor was successful and would be extremely close to God. The problem is, you can't use materialistic wealth to be an…

The Secret To Happiness

Did you know that for every 40 seconds that passes by, someone has committed suicide? In that same 40 seconds, 20 people have attempted it. This means that in the past 24 hours, 2160 people have died because they wanted to. What does that say about the state of minds people are in? Something happened in their minds to make that decision. Something went wrong. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace     those whose minds are steadfast,     because they trust in you. If we keep our trust in Christ, we will have peace of mind. Our state of mind depends…

Doxology

A form of liturgy, doxology is a set of hymns that must be sung by the congregation as this is required by God. Liturgy comes from the Greek word 'leitourgia' which means "the work of the people". Doxology, on the other hand derives from old Jewish traditions. Hence that concludes that doxology is a works doctrine as opposed to grace. Liturgy came into the Church through John Calvin, one of the reformers who brought the Calvinism heresy. What's wrong with Liturgy? It's religion, not relationship. It's just a bunch of actions that must be repeated. Hence, the heart is not in it…

Young Hearts

After much planning at our youth group, we had collected as many toiletries as possible. On Saturday, the 29th of October, all 15 of us arrived at Malvern Children's Home with what we had to offer. As soon as we entered the hall, we began to unpack the things we had brought while the children were called in. What we didn't know was that 137 children would enter the hall creating the greatest cacophony ever possible. Excitement filled the room as the atmosphere of expectation grew. As the chaos began to escalate, our youth leader, Theo Msomi, began to speak and all…
