A form of liturgy, doxology is a set of hymns that must be sung by the congregation as this is required by God. Liturgy comes from the Greek word ‘leitourgia‘ which means “the work of the people”. Doxology, on the other hand derives from old Jewish traditions. Hence that concludes that doxology is a works doctrine as opposed to grace. Liturgy came into the Church through John Calvin, one of the reformers who brought the Calvinism heresy.
What’s wrong with Liturgy?
It’s religion, not relationship. It’s just a bunch of actions that must be repeated. Hence, the heart is not in it and since this deed is done, one would think that they are close to God. It’s almost pharisaical. A following of a law.
David would not tell us anything about Liturgy. He praised worshiped God with all his heart irrespective of what people said. Those who despised him were severely punished.
The Bible says that we must shout for joy. Verse page
” data-hasqtip=”0″ aria-describedby=”qtip-0″>Psalm 98:4
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
And to dance… Psa 68:3
But the righteous shall be glad; they shall rejoice before God; they shall dance with joy.
And sing a new song, I mean why not?Psa 96:1
Sing a new song to the Lord; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
There’s nothing wrong with hymns but by golly! We serve such an amazing God, how can we have a funeral service every Sunday? Come on! I would rather rejoice in praises unto God because He went all radical to save me. I would go deep into worship to glorify His Holy name because He went deep into the pit to redeem me. I will not be led and controlled by man made doctrine and rituals. I will live to please God. So may you live for Christ, whether you are singing ‘Amazing Grace’ or ‘Reckless Love’. Just remember to worship Him in spirit and in Truth….
