What if I told you that we are all, at some point, being brainwashed? Or perhaps undergoing some hypnosis? The subtle lies, the media, the news, and the trends are all a part to play in this grand deception that surrounds us. What if the very choices you think you have have been taken away, and all you have been given is the illusion of free will? Let us take a look at the video below…

Now it’s clear to think that this experiment is disappointing because that’s exactly how society works. We will give up our individuality to conform and be accepted by others. Peer pressure gets the best of us and now we want to feel a part of a system that is chronically failing. What happens when Christianity isn’t socially acceptable?

The next video is even more disturbing and it made me quite upset.

For the longest time, I couldn’t understand why on earth the woman would press the button. And it totally frustrates me that every time I watch the video that she does it. Now, a psychologist would totally give a textbook answer stating that the negative command given in her subconscious mind activates some sort of blah blah blah.

But my textbook is the Bible, and I believe that the Bible has all the answers.

The Bible states that mankind is evil, and that derives from the heart’s condition.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Luke 6:45 For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Whatever is in the heart always rises to the surface. There are three factors in the video that we must understand why she pressed the button:

1. The consequences of killing the cat were taken away by saying that it was done before, with no repercussions

2. She was reminded of an exciting time when she broke the rules before. Pressing the button brought a pleasurable experience.

3. There was a time limit given to do that which was considered exciting, a only once in a life opportunity.

But of course, as Solomon had said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, there is nothing new under the sun.

If we go back in time to the Garden of Eden, where Eve sinned, we will find the same three elements:

  1. The element of consequences was removed in Genesis 3:4, “You will not surely die,” said the serpent to the woman.
  2. The element of pleasure was given in Genesis 3:6, when the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.
  3. The time limit was given to her because God would return to the garden shortly in Genesis 3:8. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.

This trick is from ancient times; it’s the devil’s method, and we decide whether it works or not. The Bible instructs us to resist the devil. We aren’t led by instinct or emotions, but we are to be led by the Holy Spirit.

We can’t be led astray by everything the world throws at us; we can’t be halted by every distraction, we can’t be sucked into every trend, and we most certainly can’t be pulled into every social conformance. At some point, we need to mature as Christians and stand up and stand firm in what we believe in.

Be mindful that the same three lies exist today:

  1. Everyone is doing so it’s okay, nothing bad is going to happen if you try it just once.
  2. It’s fun, let’s do it. It’s exciting.
  3. You only live once, let’s do it while we still have a chance…
