You would think that life is simple, but that’s not always the case. It is actually much harder than one would care to admit. Some people think that life is a game and it depends on how well you know the rules, but that doesn’t mean you are winning. You then get the rebel who breaks the rules, but he somehow suffers the consequences anyway. The good receive bad news; the wicked seem to receive what a righteous man deserves. It doesn’t matter. A wise man once said that the race isn’t given to the swift or the battle to the strong, but chance happens to all. It is as if a man were given a deck of cards, and the number of cards was the number of days he would live. He doesn’t know how many cards he has, but he is always looking for a good hand. Some are foolish enough to waste their cards, and some hold onto a card for so long, hoping that it could be reused. Some are afraid to pick a card because of the hard cards he had received. Some gather their picked cards because they know they will be used for what is coming, but they can never be prepared enough for what’s coming. It’s as if the game is rigged; no matter how good you may live life, it still sneaks from behind and catches you by surprise. Therefore, it is my conclusion that a man’s greatest strength in life isn’t how prepared he is or how resistant to the hardship he becomes but rather how quickly he is able to recover from what the deck of cards may throw at him. Is he able to adjust to handle the situation that arises, or will he refuse to budge, expecting the world to conform to his expectations? The truth is that it never does. Because everything that surrounds you has only one mission, and that is to bring you down…
