I recently got a job so I haven’t had time to blog lately. In the past two weeks, I have been reading and meditating upon God’s word and it is amazing how a distinct message keeps circling in my mind. The job I have requires me to see people, and sometimes I have to make appointments to see them. On ine particular occasion, I had to meet a certain individual at a well renown company. Because my name is “Kristian”, he assumed I was Christian and our conversation led onto God. Hearing this man’s testimony was greatly encouraging, especially for someone who had just started a job recently. He animatedly explained how God used him in the workplace to impact other people, how God blessed him that he extensively climbed up the corporate ladder. Many were saved and set free from just reading the Bible, praying and talking about God during the lunch break. The strangest thing that said was, “I asked some Christians to join me, and they said that they were too busy. Kristian, I tell you, thlse people are still in the same position they were in when they first started. They never moved up….”

And I began to ponder upon this…. If I ask you about Tola, Jair, Ibzan, Elon and Abdon, you wouldn’t know what I was talking about. Why? Those people were judges in Israel and only a few sentences were written about them. They didn’t do anything other than the ordinary. If I asked you about Samson, Deborah and Gideon, you would have a lot to say because those people went out of their way for God. They obeyed God and did the unimaginable.

God gives us a passion but the problem is that we are so focused on the things that quenches that fire…

Even in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, a whole list of geneologies are given but only one person chose to do something out of the ordinary. Hence, we have the Jabez prayer…

So maybe, we are trying to hard to be like everyone else? Maybe we are trying to hard to be ordinary while we are supposed to be so much more? Maybe that’s the reason we aren’t progressing in life or progressing spiritually is because we are not interested in God’s plan for our lives?
